I wonder what the black body was made of. Looks like a black plastelina, but then treated with a coat of varnish?!
“In one breath…” you must have been pretty blue in the head. Please don’t play with holding your breath for that long.

The black body was built on a wire armature, reinforced with Magic Sculpt epoxy putty, and then covered with Super Sculpey Living Doll polymer clay. The skull has an aluminum-foil core, a layer of Magic Sculpt, and a Super Sculpey outer layer. The book started as a small wooden plaque, with Magic Sculpt over it and polymer clay as the final outer layer.
And yes, reading my own “in one breath” comment now made me laugh. Please do not take that as a recommended sculpting technique! 😁
